Configuration Guide Vol. 1

26.1.11 Encapsulation and decapsulation priority inheritance

When VXLAN encapsulates and decapsulates frames, it inherits the precedence contained in the frame.

When encapsulation is used, the user preference of VLAN Tag of frames received on VXLAN Access port is inherited from VXLAN Network port to the upper 3bit of TOS field in IP header of the frame to be transmitted. When L2 protocol frame transparency functionality is used and L2 protocol frame is transparent to VXLAN tunnels, TOS in IP headers of the frames sent from VXLAN Network port. The values are as shown in the following table.

Table 26-4 TOS field-value when L2 protocol frame transparency function is used

When decapsulation is performed, the upper 3bit of TOS field in IP header of VXLAN packets received on VXLAN Network port is inherited to the user preference of VLAN Tag of frames sent from VXLAN Access port.

When priority determination by flow control operates in the following configuration, the determined CoS is set as the priority.
