26.1.12 VXLAN PMTU function

VXLAN PMTU function uses PMTU specified in vxlan pmtu configuration command as the threshold value. When the size of a packet received on a port for which the function is enabled exceeds the threshold value, it operates equivalent to a Path MTU Discovery and requests the source to resend a packet with a packet size smaller than the threshold value.

When VXLAN PMTU function is applied, if the sender supports Path MTU Discovery, MTU length on the connected network does not need to be changed. The following figure shows the operation before and after VXLAN PMTU function is applied.
