20.1.5 40GBASE-R
This section describes an Ethernet interface that uses a 40GBASE-R optical fiber cable.
- <Structure of this section>
(1) Connection interface
40GBASE-SR4,40GBASE-LR4, and 40GBASE-CR4 are supported. The line rate supports 40Gbit/s, full-duplex, fixed-connection or auto-negotiated connection.
- 40GBASE-SR4
-
Used for short-distance connections. Only full-duplex fixed connections are supported (multi-mode, transmission length: max 150m*).
- 40GBASE-LR4
-
Used for medium-distance connections. Only full-duplex fixed connections are supported (single-mode, transmission distance-max 10km*).
- 40GBASE-CR4
-
Used for short-distance connections. Only auto-negotiated connections are supported. (Transmission range: max. 5m*)
- #
-
The maximum distance depends on the cable used. For the transmission distance for each cable, refer to the "Hardware Instruction Manual".
(2) Connection Specifications
The following table describes the connection specifications for each connection interface. For the physical specifications of 40GBASE-R, refer to the "Hardware Instruction Manual".

(3) Notes on connection
-
Operation is not guaranteed if a transceiver other than the one shown in the "Hardware Instruction Manual" is used.
-
When QSFP + is used, it takes 3 to 5 seconds to determine the line type of the operation-command show interfaces after the transceiver is inserted.
-
When using a direct attach cable, it takes 3 to 5 seconds for the line type of the operation-command show interfaces to be determined after the transceiver is inserted. It also takes 5 to 8 seconds to link up.
