2.3 Hardware configuration
This machine is available in both fixed and interchangeable power models. The fixed-power supply model has two built-in PS for redundant power supply configurations. The power supply can be redundantly configured with two PS-A06/PS-A06R/PS-D06 installed.
The following figures show the hardware configuration.

- <Structure of this section>
(1) Unit's cabinet
The main board, power supply unit, and fan are enclosed within the device chassis. Fixed-power models include a built-in power supply and fan. A power supply replacement model is a type that includes a power supply and a fan, and the power supply and fan unit can be removed.
(2) Main board
The main board consists of CPU, SW, and PHY subunits.
-
CPU (central processing unit)
CPU is installed, and the entire device is managed, SW part /PHY part is controlled, and various protocols are processed by the software.
The software is stored in the internal memory of the device mounted on CPU part.
-
MC (memory card)
MC slot. By inserting a memory card, you can take a backup of the configuration or collect dump information.
-
SW (switch processor)
Handles L2 frame switching and L3 (IPv4 or IPv6) packet switching. The SW subunit performs hardware-based processing including MAC address learning and aging, link aggregation, routing table lookups, filter or QoS table lookups, and DMA transfers of packets addressed to the device and packets originated by the device. These functions together enable IP forwarding.
-
PHY (physical Interface)
An interface subunit supporting various kinds of media.
(3) PS (Power Supply)
PS is built into the fixed power supply and generates DC power for use in the Switch from an external power supply.
In addition, two PS are built-in and power redundancy can be configured. This enables uninterrupted operation even if the PS fails. When operating in a redundant configuration, see section 14.1.5, Setting Power Supply Severity Failure Determination for Fixed Power Supply Models.
Note that PS does not have a power switch (breaker). The power is turned ON/OFF by connecting/disconnecting (attaching/detaching) the power cord.
(4) PS-A06/PS-A06R/PS-D06
PS-A06/PS-A06R #/PS-D06 is a power supply that generates DC power to be used in this equipment from an external power supply. Up to two power supply units can be installed, and units can be replaced without powering off the Switch when using a redundant power supply unit. When operating with one power supply unit, install a blank panel in an empty slot.
In addition, the power supply unit is equipped with a FAN to cool the inside.
Note that the power supply unit does not have a power switch (breaker). The power is turned ON/OFF by connecting/disconnecting (attaching/detaching) the power cord.
#: PS-A06R is not supported in AX3660S-48XT4QW.
(5) FAN
FAN is built into the fixed power supply and is used to cool the inside of the equipment.
(6) FAN-04/FAN-04R
FAN-04/FAN-04R is mounted on a power supply interchangeable model. It is a fan unit to cool the inside of the equipment. One fan unit is inserted into the fan slot. The fan unit can be replaced without stopping the device during operation.
#: FAN-04R is not supported in AX3660S-48XT4QW.
