Configuration Guide Vol. 1

22.1.4 10GBASE-R

This section describes an Ethernet interface that uses a 10GBASE-R optical fiber cable.

<Structure of this section>

(1) Connection interface

10GBASE-SR,10GBASE-LR,10GBASE-ER and 10GBASE-BR are supported. The transmission speed and duplex mode settings are fixed at 10 Gbit/s and full duplex.

10GBASE-SR

Used to connect between short distances (multi-mode, transmission distance: max. 300m *).

#

The maximum distance depends on the cable used. For the transmission distance for each cable, refer to the "Hardware Instruction Manual".

10GBASE-LR

Used to connect between medium distances (single-mode, transmission distance: max. 10km).

10GBASE-ER

Used to connect between long distances (single-mode, transmission distance: max 40km).

10GBASE-BR

By using light with differentwavelength in transmission and reception, as in the case of 1000BASE-BX, two-way communication can be performed with single-core optical fibers. This reduces the cost of optical fibers.

Because the upstream and downstream wavelengths are different, a pair of transceivers must be provided for each upstream and downstream.

10GBASE-BR10-D/10GBASE-BR10-U

Used to connect between medium distances (single-mode, max 10km).

10GBASE-BR40-D/10GBASE-BR40-U

Used to connect between long distances (single-mode, max 40km).

(2) Connection Specifications

For the physical specifications of the Switch, refer to the "Hardware User's Manual."
