22.1.3 1000BASE-X
This section describes an Ethernet interface that uses a 100BASE-X optical fiber cable.
- <Structure of this section>
(1) Connection interface
1000BASE-SX,1000BASE-LX,1000BASE-LH, and 1000BASE-BX are supported. The transmission speed and duplex mode settings are fixed at 1000 Mbit/s and full duplex.
- 1000BASE-SX
-
Used to connect between short distances (multi-mode, max 550m).
- 1000BASE-LX
-
Used to connect between medium distances (single mode, max 5km/ multi mode, max 550m).
- 1000BASE-LH
-
Used to connect between long distances (single-mode, max 70km).
- 1000BASE-BX
-
A low-cost interface that uses a single-core optical fiber for which different wavelengths are used for sending and reception.
Because the upstream and downstream wavelengths are different, a pair of transceivers must be provided for each upstream and downstream.
The Switch supports the 1000BASE-BX10-D and 1000BASE-BX10-U interfaces, prescribed in IEEE 802.3ah, and the 1000BASE-BX40-D and 1000BASE-BX40-U interfaces, which are vendor-specific interfaces.
- 1000BASE-BX10-D/1000BASE-BX10-U
-
Used to connect between medium distances (single-mode, max 10km).
- 1000BASE-BX40-D/1000BASE-BX40-U
-
Used to connect between long distances (single-mode, max 40km).
You can configure either of the modes shown below. Select the appropriate mode for the network to be connected. The default for the Switch is auto-negotiation.
-
Auto-negotiation
-
1000BASE-X full duplex (fixed)
Auto-negotiation is a function for determining the optimum connection operation between switches by communicating with remote devices for full-duplex and flow control. If auto-negotiation does not resolve the problem, the Switch repeats the connection operation until a link connection is established.
(2) Connection Specifications
The table below describes the connection specifications for transmission speed and duplex mode (full or half) for a connection between the Switch and a remote device. For the physical specifications of 1000BASE-X, refer to the "Hardware Instruction Manual".

(3) Notes on connection
-
Make sure that the remote device (such as a switching hub) uses auto-negotiation or the fixed full-duplex mode setting.
-
Operation is not guaranteed if a transceiver other than the one shown in the "Hardware Instruction Manual" is used.
