12.1.4 Symmetric connection

(1) Connection type

The Switch connects symmetrically in active/passive mode to IP addressed unit specified by the configuration command ntp peer. It is not synchronized with the time of symmetric requestreceived from an unset IP.

Even if the host NTP server is disconnected, the system's time is synchronized by going through the symmetrically connected NTP server.

(2) Authentication

The following tables show the authentication keys that are assigned to NTP messages sent and received by the Switch to and from symmetric-connected devices.

If you receive a NTP message with no credentials from a unicast client, send a reply message with no credentials.
