Configuration Guide Vol. 1

12.1.3 Server function

The Switch can operate as NTP servers. To provide time from the Switch, the time must be synchronized with other NTP servers or it must be operating as a local time server.

<Structure of this section>

(1) Connection type

(a) Unicast server

As a unicast server, the Switch connects to NTP clients and child NTP servers in client/server mode and provides time.

(b) Broadcast server

When the Switch is used as a broadcast server, the time is provided to NTP client and child NTP servers by setting the configuration command ntp broadcast.

(2) Authentication

The following tables show the authentication keys that are assigned to NTP messages sent and received by the Switch as NTP servers.
