Configuration Guide Vol. 1

28.1.8 Settings related to mode and ring port (multi-ring configuration with shared link)

This section gives the parameter setting patterns for modes and ring ports for multi-ring configurations with shared links.

<Structure of this section>

(1) Multi-ring Configuration with Shared Link (Basic Configuration)

The following figure shows a multi-ring configuration with shared links (basic configuration).

Figure 28-3: Multi-ring configuration with shared links (basic configuration)

[Figure Data]

(a) Transit node of the shared link monitoring ring

This is the same as transit nodes for a single ring. [28.1.7 See Mode and Ring Port Settings (Single Ring and Multi-Ring Configuration Without Shared Link) (1) Transit Node. This applies to T2,T4 and T5 in Figure 28-3: Multi-ring configuration with shared links (basic configuration).

(2) Multi-Ring Configuration with Shared Link (Extended Configuration)

The figure below shows a multi-ring configuration with shared links (extended configuration). For the settings other than the end node (master node) of the shared link non-monitoring ring and the node (transit) in the shared link non-monitoring ring, see "(1) Multi-ring configuration with shared link (basic configuration)".

Points to note

Set the operating mode for the Switch to transit mode in a ring. Fig. 28-4: Multi-ring configuration with shared links (extended configuration) corresponds to S7 configuration. The shared parameter is specified for both ring ports, and they are set as the shared port. In Figure 28-4: Multi-ring configuration with shared links (extended configuration), this applies to the ring port [R3] of S7 node.

Command examples

  1. (config)# axrp 1

    (config-axrp)# mode transit

Sets the operating mode for ring ID 1 to transit mode.

  2. (config)# interface gigabitethernet 1/0/1

    (config-if)# axrp-ring-port 1 shared

    (config-if)# exit

    (config)# interface gigabitethernet 1/0/2

    (config-if)# axrp-ring-port 1 shared

Switches to the interface mode for ports 1/0/1 and 1/0/2, and sets the target interface as the shared link port for ring ID 1.
