34.1.5 Multihop monitoring

If IP address to be monitored is not the address of the network directly connected to the Switch, specify the configuration command multihop to enable multihop monitoring.

BFD sessions with multihop command use the loopback address as the source address for BFD packets. Set a IP for the loopback interface of the Switch. If VRF is used as the route to the partner switch, VRF must also be set for the loopback interface.

If IP address to be monitored is not the address of the network directly connected to the Switch, but you do not specify a multihop command. Or, if you do not specify an address for the loopback interface, BFD session is not established.
