7.6.1 Physical port forwarding

(1) Transfer operation during normal operation
If the received port and the forwarded port are on the same member switch, they are forwarded within the member switch. If the received port and the destination port are different member switches, they are forwarded through the stack link. The following figure shows the forwarding operation under normal conditions at the physical port.

(2) Transfer operation in case of failure
Routes are not redundant in this configuration. Therefore, if the received port and the forwarding destination port are different member switches, forwarding cannot continue if the following conditions occur:

A route error occurred in the transfer destination of another member switch.

Another member switch has failed
The following figure shows the transfer operation when a physical port fails.
