36.1.5 Notes on Using DHCP Servers

The following are notes on using a DHCP server.

(1) IP addressing of the incoming interfaces when multi-homed

In a multihomed configuration, the primary IP address is usually used for the IP address of the input interface. The IP addresses in the DHCP address pool set for the subnet are assigned to DHCP clients.

(2) Number of simultaneous connections when the lease time is shortened

If the lease time is 10 seconds, make sure that the maximum number of connected clients is no more than 200. If the lease time is 20 seconds, the maximum number of connected clients must be no more than 400. If the lease time is 30 seconds, the maximum number of connected clients must be no more than 600.
