7.5.1 Failure and recovery of member switch

<Structure of this section>

(1) Master switch failure

The following figure shows the operation when a failure occurs in the master switch.

Figure 7-4: Master switch failure

[Figure Data]

If the master switch fails and stops, the backup switch becomes the new master switch and operates on a single stack of the master switch. At this time, the device MAC addressis not changed.

(2) When the recovery master switch is restored

The following figure shows the operation when the recovery master switch recovers from a fault.

Figure 7-5: Restoration of the recovery master switch

[Figure Data]

When the recovery master switch recovers from a failure, the member switch becomes a backup switch and operates on two member switches. At this time, the device MAC addressis not changed.

(3) In case of backup switch failure

The following figure shows what happens if the backup switch fails.

Figure 7-6: Backup switch failure

[Figure Data]

When the backup switch fails and stops, it operates on a single stack of the master switch. At this time, the device MAC addressis not changed.

(4) When the backup switch is restored

The following figure shows the operation when the backup switch recovers from a failure.

Figure 7-7: Recovery of the backup switch

[Figure Data]

When the backup switch recovers from a failure, the member switch becomes a backup switch and runs on two member switches. At this time, the device MAC addressis not changed.
