Configuration Guide Vol. 1

3.6.4 Maximum number of remote devices

Indicates the maximum number of remote devices that the Switch connects to. Remote devices here include terminals as well as routers.

<Structure of this section>

(1) ARP entries

In IPv4, ARP determines the hardware address corresponding to the destination address of the packet to be sent. Therefore, the maximum number of remote devices is determined by the number of ARP entries.

ARP entries can be learned dynamically or statically specified by configuration.

(2) NDP entries

In IPv6, NDP determines the hardware address corresponding to the destination address of the packet to be sent. Thus, the number of NDP entries determines the maximum number of remote devices.

NDP entries can be learned dynamically or statically specified by configuration.
