Configuration Guide Vol. 1

2.3 Hardware configuration

Each model of the Switch is designed with a unified architecture.

The following figures show the hardware configuration.

<Structure of this section>

(1) Unit's cabinet

The system enclosure contains the mainboard and PS,FAN.

(2) Main board

The main board consists of CPU, SW, and PHY subunits.

(3) PS (Power Supply)

PS has a fixed power supply and a power supply. The fixed power supply indicates the power supply that is integrated in the equipment, and the power supply indicates the power supply that can be installed and removed. Both power supplies generate DC power for use in the Switch from an external power supply.

You can configure power redundancy by installing a total of two fixed power supplies and power supplies. This allows the Switch to operate without stopping even if PS fails during operation. For details on redundant power supply configurations, refer to the Hardware User's Manual. For details on redundant power supply configurations, refer to section 14.1.2, Detecting Power Supply Redundancy Failures. When using a single PS, install a blank panel in an empty slot.

In addition, PoE power feed can be expanded by installing two power supplies. To extend PoE feed rate, refer to Configuring 14.1.3 PoE Power Supply Volume Expansion Modes.

Note that PS does not have a power switch (breaker). The power is turned ON/OFF by connecting/disconnecting (attaching/detaching) the power cord.

(4) FAN

FAN is used to cool the inside of the server.

However, AX2630S-24T4XW is a fan-less model.

(5) MC (Memory Card)

By inserting a memory card, you can take a backup of the configuration or collect dump information. USB memory cards can be used as MC.
