18.1.4 Notes on using port mirroring
- <Structure of this section>
(1) Notes on mirroring transmission frames
The order of frames sent from the mirror port may differ from the order of frames sent from the monitor port.
(2) Notes on using the port mirroring 802.1Q Tag facility
-
Because of VLAN Tag, it must be able to handle frames that are 4 bytes larger than normal. In particular, when mirroring Tagged and transmit frames, the mirroring frame has two VLAN Tag and must be able to handle 8-byte large frames.
-
Connect a trunk port to the port that you want to configure as a mirror port.
-
Mirroring frames are sent regardless of the communication status of the Layer 2 Switch functionality configured on the mirror port.
-
If VLAN Tag of packets to be mirrored on the monitor port differs from TPID set on the mirror port, TPID value of the first row of VLAN Tag excluding VLAN Tag assigned on the mirror port is TPID value of the mirror port, not TPID value of the monitor port.
-
In AX2340S-48T4X or AX2340S-48P4X, the monitor and mirror ports are configured on any of ports 1-24, 49-50 and ports 25-48, 51-54.
-
(3) Considerations when used with sFlow statistic
Do not use the following together on the same port.
-
Using sFlow statistic send (egress) specification with the monitor port for transmission frames.
-
Using sFlow statistic send (egress) specification with a mirror port that uses 802.1Q Tag grant facility.
