2.3 Hardware configuration
Each model of the Switch is designed with a unified architecture.
The following figures show the hardware configuration.
|
- <Structure of this section>
(1) Unit's cabinet
The system enclosure contains the mainboard and PS,FAN.
(2) Main board
The main board consists of CPU, SW, and PHY subunits.
-
CPU (central processing unit)
CPU is installed, and the entire device is managed, SW part /PHY part is controlled, and various protocols are processed by the software.
The software is stored in the internal memory of the device mounted on CPU part.
-
SW (switch processor)
Switching of L2 frame. SW part learns/aging MAC addresses, link aggregation, searches the filter /QoS table, and forwards DMA of self-addressed/spontaneous packets by hardware.
-
PHY (physical Interface)
An interface subunit supporting various kinds of media.
(3) PS (Power Supply)
PS generates DC power to be used in the Switch from an external power source.
Note that PS does not have a power switch (breaker). The power is turned ON/OFF by connecting/disconnecting (attaching/detaching) the power cord.
(4) FAN
FAN is used to cool the inside of the server.
However, AX2340S-16T4X,AX2340S-24T4X,AX2340S-24TH4X, and AX2340S-24PH4X are fan-less models.
(5) MC (Memory Card)
By inserting a memory card, you can take a backup of the configuration or collect dump information. USB memory cards can be used as MC.
