The Switch supports BFD version-1. If other BFD packets are received, the corresponding packets are discarded. When a BFD packet that requires the use of the request mode is received, the SCI operates in asynchronous mode in response to the fact that the request mode is not supported. If an BFD packet is received using the echo function and authentication functionality, the corresponding packet is discarded and no BFD session is established.
BFD advertises to the partner switch whether it can continue BFD monitoring during a graceful restart. This enables you to identify whether BFD session downtime during a graceful restart is due to a failure or a graceful restart. The Switch does not support BFD monitoring during graceful restart. Therefore, a BFD session-down detected during graceful restart on the local or partner switch is not treated as a failure.
Note that if an unsupported interface is placed in the next hop, BFD session will go down.
