Configuration Guide Vol. 2

3.1 Description of flow detection

The flow detection functionality detects a flow, which is a sequence of frames, based on conditions, such as the MAC header, IP header, TCP header, and ICMP header. QoS flow lists are used to set up flow detection. For more information about QoS flow list, see 3.1.3 QoS Flow List.

In the Switch, you can configure QoS flow lists for Ethernet and VLAN interfaces. For both the Ethernet interface and VLAN interface for which a QoS flow list is set, the flow of SNAP/RFC1042 format frames in the Layer 2 forwarding Ethernet V2 format and IEEE802.3 can be detected.

If flow detection is specified on the receiving interface, the flow is detected at the stage received on the Ethernet interface for both the Ethernet interface and VLAN interface. Note that the frames received by the Switch are also subject to the flow detection.
