1.1.2 Flow detection

The flow detection functionality detects a flow, which is a sequence of frames, based on conditions, such as the MAC header, IP header, TCP header, and ICMP header. Settings are configured in access lists. For details on access lists, see 1.1.5 Access lists.

You can configure access lists for Ethernet and VLAN interfaces on the Switch. For both the Ethernet interface and VLAN interface for which an access list is set, Layer 2 forwarding Ethernet V2 format and IEEE802.3 frames in SNAP/RFC1042 format can be detected.

If flow detection is specified on the receiving interface, the flow is detected at the stage received on the Ethernet interface for both the Ethernet interface and VLAN interface. Note that the frames received by the Switch are also subject to the flow detection.

If flow detection is specified for a sending-side interface, flow detection is performed at the stage of transmission on the Ethernet interface for both the Ethernet interface and VLAN interface. Frames spontaneously transmitted by the Switch are also subject to flow detection.
