14.3.1 Error Location and recovery processing
Recovery processing differs according to the nature of the problem. The following table describes error locations and the recovery processing.
Error location |
Switch response |
Recovery processing |
Scope of effect |
---|---|---|---|
Error detected at a port |
Automatic recovery of the applicable port is performed six times per hour. If a failure occurs at the sixth auto-recovery attempt, the switch stops. The number of auto-recovery attempts are reset after one hour of operation since the first failure. |
Re-initializes the affected port. |
Communication via the affected port is suspended. |
Mainboard failure (CPU and SW *1) |
Perform automatic recovery. If the system is operated for at least one hour after recovery, the automatic recovery count is initialized. #2 |
Re-initializes the main board. For the sixth and subsequent automatic recovery, the running-config is initialized and the port-status is set to disable to start. |
Communication via all ports on the switch is suspended. |
Mainboard failure (SW *1) |
Makes six auto-recovery attempts in one hour. If a failure occurs at the sixth auto-recovery attempt, the switch stops. #2 However, if the system is operated for at least one hour after the first failure, the automatic recovery count is initialized. |
Re-initializes the switching processor. |
Communication via all ports on the switch is suspended. |
Power supply (PS) failure |
Stops when the power required to run the switch ceases to be supplied. If the power supply is operating in a redundant configuration, it will not be stopped. |
Stops the switch. If the power supply is operating in a redundant configuration, it will not be stopped. |
Communication via all ports on the switch is suspended. If the power supply is operating in a redundant configuration, communication is not interrupted. |
Fan failure |
Increases the speed of the other fan. |
There is no means of auto-recovery. |
The other fan runs faster, but this does not affect communications. |
#: 1 SW recovery differs depending on the failure.
#2: If recovery processing is not performed by the configuration command no system recovery, automatic recovery is not performed.
