Configuration Guide Vol. 1

7.3.5 Stacking device MAC addressing

The chassis MAC address of the member switch selected as the master switch when the stack was first configured is used as the device MAC address of the stack. If the master switch subsequently fails and the backup switch becomes the new master switch, the stacking device MAC is left unchanged.

If all member switches are restarted at the same time, the chassis MAC address of the member switch newly elected as the master switch becomes the stacking device MAC address.
