7.2.3 Conditions to configure the stack

To enable the stack feature, you must have an optional license for the stack. Set up licenses for all member switches that you plan to stack.

When configuring a stack, ensure that all of the following conditions are met between member switches:

• The switch number must be different

• The functionality activated by the optional license matches (except for uplink 10G).

• Software version must match

If these conditions are not met, the member switches other than the master switch may restart again. The member switch then starts up with the default configuration information.

Even if the software versions do not match, the stack can be configured if the configurations match. However, in this case, the configuration cannot be edited.
